DESCRIPTION:Dr. Jasper Goseling  \nA Fog Radio Access Network (F-RAN) is
a cellular wireless system that enables content delivery via the caching o
f popular content at edge nodes (ENs) and cloud processing. The existing i
nformation-theoretic analyses of F-RAN systems\, and special cases thereof
\, make the assumption that all requests should be guaranteed the same del
ivery latency\, which results in identical latency for all files in the co
ntent library. In practice\, however\, contents may have heterogeneous tim
eliness requirements depending on the applications that operate on them. G
iven per-EN cache capacity constraint\, there exists a fundamental trade-o
ff among the delivery latencies of different users' requests\, since conte
nts that are allocated more cache space generally enjoy lower delivery lat
encies. For the case with two ENs and two users\, the optimal latency trad
e-off is characterized in the high-SNR regime in terms of the Normalized D
elivery Time (NDT) metric. The main results are illustrated by numerical e
xamples. Joint work with Osvaldo Simeone and Petar Popovski. Bio: Jasper G
oseling received the M.Sc. degree with honors from the University of Twent
e\, The Netherlands\, in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree from Delft University o
f Technology\, The Netherlands\, in 2010\, both in electrical engineering.
Currently\, he is an assistant professor in the department of applied mat
hematics at the University of Twente. His research interests are in inform
ation theory and stochastic operations research with a focus on communicat
 ion systems.
