DESCRIPTION:Aim: The FY17 OPORP Orthotics and Prosthetics Outcomes Researc
 h Award (OPORA) challenges the scientific community to address which ortho
 tic and prosthetic devices generate the best patient outcomes. Outcomes fo
 cused research is used to support evidence-based practice which guides pro
 viders in the optimization of care to Service members and Veterans with li
 mb loss and/or limb impairment. It is expected that any research findings 
 will also provide benefit to the general population.\n \nFunding: \nFund
 ing level 1 (new investigator): USD $500\,000\nFunding level 2: USD $2.5 m
 illion\n \nEligibility: \nFunding level 1: PIs are eligible for this awar
 d if\, at the time of pre-application submission deadline\, they:\n– Are
  within 5 years of their last training position\;\n– Are able to demonst
 rate the freedom to pursue research goals outside of a formal mentorship p
 rogram or arrangement\;\n– Can provide evidence of organizational suppor
 t\, such as start-up funds provided by the institution and/or use of a tec
 hnician\, space\, facilities\, and resources\;\nPIs working within a labor
 atory team are eligible to apply for this award provided they meet the cri
 teria above. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are not eligible f
 or this award.\nFunding level 2: Independent investigators at all academic
  levels (or equivalent) are eligible to submit applications.\n \nHow to A
