DESCRIPTION:Ambassador Suzi and Eric Levine\nThe United States has a long
history of apprenticeship going back to the start of our nation. However\,
since the 1940s\, a University degree has become more of the prerequisite
to success. Ambassador Suzi and Eric LeVine will share the history of app
renticeship in the United States and how European models\, and especially
the Swiss model\, are inspiring an apprenticeship renaissance that enables
more people in the United States to succeed.\n\nAs an example of the perm
eability that Switzerland has built into their system and that we believe
is essential in the United States\, the Universities know how to receive t
he credentials of apprentices and are even apprentice employers. For examp
le\, we know one young man who did his IT apprenticeship and then\, inspir
ed by his experience\, is now studying at EPFL for his computer science Ph
 D.
