DESCRIPTION:Prof. Franck Vidal\, Université de la Méditerranée\, Marsei
lle (F)\nCENTER FOR NEUROPROSTHETICS (CNP) SEMINAR\n\nAbstract:\n(about th
e speaker)\nProf. Franck Vidal is a Neuroscience Professor at Université
de la Méditerranée in Marseille (France). His research focuses on the un
derstanding of the anatomical and temporal organization of sensorimotor in
formation flow. By combining behavioral\, neurophysiological and neurophar
maceutical methods in human and rats\, his group aims at determining at wh
ich moment (at the millisecond level) and in which structure (macro- and m
icro-anatomical) do the operations allowing the nervous system to react to
an environmental stimulus take place. Similarly\, he also aims at testing
the hypothesis that temporal perception depends on a high-frequency “in
ternal clock”. The integration or the counting of the impulses of such a
n oscillator by neural structures from which activity can be recorded coul
d explain the basic mechanisms of subjective temporal perception.\n
