 computers”? The movie Hidden Figures by Theodore Melfi is the story of a
  team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in
  NASA during the early years of the U.S. space programme. A free screening
  is organized at EPFL on Monday November 13\, 2017 at 18:00. Come and join

 ubtitles. It is jointly organized by NCCR MARVEL\, EPFL Equal Opportunitie
 s Office and CECAM.\n\nThis event is related to the upcoming event featuri
 ng Ms. Mary Ann Mansigh\, a truly outstanding representative of the first
  generation of coders\, and taking place on November 15\, 2017 at EPFL in 
 Auditorium CO1. \n \nStoryline — As the United States raced against Ru
 ssia to put a man in space\, NASA found untapped talent in a group of Afri
 can-American female mathematicians that served as the brains behind one of
  the greatest operations in U.S. history. Based on the unbelievably true l
 ife stories of three of these women\, known as "human computers"\, we foll
 ow these women as they quickly rose the ranks of NASA alongside many of hi
 story's greatest minds specifically tasked with calculating the momentous 
 launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit\, and guaranteeing his safe retu
 rn. Dorothy Vaughan\, Mary Jackson\, and Katherine Johnson crossed all gen
 der\, race\, and professional lines while their brilliance and desire to d
 ream big\, beyond anything ever accomplished before by the human race\, fi
