DESCRIPTION:In the context of the Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme (ISJ
 RP)\, the SNSF and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in India have iss
 ued a call for Joint Research Projects (JRPs) in life sciences.\n \nThe t
 hematic area is: Blue sky research/basic research in the life sciences whi
 ch is either biotechnology-related or biotechnology-inspired\; biotechnolo
 gy as key enabling technology including (but not restricted to) the follow
 ing sectors: agriculture\, environment\, energy\, materials sciences\, hea
 lth\, medicine\, industry (industrial biotechnology). Blue sky research im
 plies a freedom to carry out flexible\, curiosity-driven research that lea
 ds to outcomes not envisaged at the outset.\n \nProposal must have at lea
 st one main applicant based in Switzerland and one main applicant based in
  India. The SNSF will cover the costs for the Swiss part of the research a
 nd the DBT the Indian part. Applicants requesting funding in Switzerland m
 ust meet the eligibility requirements of the SNSF. Each applicant may only
  apply for one project. The applications will be jointly evaluated by the 
 SNSF and the DBT. Up to 12 projects will be funded.\n \nFunding and durat
 ion\nFunding amount: on the Swiss side\, max. 350’000 CHF per project. T
 he grants cover similar costs as those incurred in national SNSF projects:
  salaries (PhD students\, postdocs\, other staff) as well as consumables\,
  some minor equipment and mobility costs related to the project\nDuration:
  4 years (shorter proposal will not be accepted)\; earlier starting date: 
 January 1st 2019\n \nDeadlines\nSubmission deadline: April 16th 2018\nApp

 Guidelines. Proposals are to be submitted jointly by the Swiss and Indian
