DESCRIPTION:The Gebert Rüf Stiftung (GRS) supports pre-competitive\, appl
ied research (at Swiss institutions of higher education) that seems too ap
plication-oriented for institutions of higher learning\, and too far from
the market for institutions that promote the transfer from research to app
lication. GRS does NOT support purely fundamental research projects\, the
 optimization of the already known\, business-oriented start-up projects\,
projects that have already commenced or isolated projects with little syne
rgistic impact.\n\nGRS programmes\n\n	DesignPlus is aimed at interdiscipli
nary project groups in the fields of science\, technology and education\,
conducting application-oriented R&D and educational projects in which desi
gn – from conception to implementation – is central and not merely an
add-on. Design theory and disciplinary basic design research are NOT suppo
rted. Both small projects (short duration\, up to CHF 50\,000) and larger
projects (2-3 years\, up to CHF 300\,000) are considered.\n	Pilot Projects
provides start-up or initial funding for projects of nationwide importanc
e\, which stand out as particularly original\, innovative\, surprising or
promising\, with major potential and suitable to serve as a model. For an
indication of the grant duration and funding\, follow this link.\n	Scienta
inment is for interdisciplinary teams working on projects that address the
need for a low-threshold way of communicating about education\, research
and innovation\, combining entertainment with the transfer of knowledge. I
t promotes the development of new forms of science dialogue in collaborati
on with representatives of non-scientific target groups in Switzerland. Ma
rketing campaigns\, institutional PR work and science communication are NO
T supported. An indication of grants duration and funding can be found at
this link.\n\n\nApplication\n\n\n	Informal Access: send a 1-2pp. abstract
of your project (and alternatives) well ahead of the chosen deadline to id
 ee@grstiftung.ch.\n	Deadlines for First Evaluation Stage: 1 February\, 1 M
 ay\, 1 September\, 1 December (every year).\n	Deadlines for Second Evaluat
 ion Stage: 1 March\, 15 May\, 1 September\, 1 December (every year).\n\nTh
e selection process lasts approximately 6 months.\n \nEligible costs: sal
aries for mid-level faculty and young academic talent\, material and infra
structure costs\, among others. Overheads are not covered.\n \nFor more i
