DESCRIPTION:Prof. Fabio Martinon\, Department of Biochemistry\, UNIL\nKey
cellular functions including those related to energy metabolism\, organiza
tion of the genetic information or production of membrane-bound and secret
ed proteins are compartmentalized within organelles. Perturbations of thes
e cellular compartments trigger repair and adaptation programs aimed at re
storing homeostasis. These events are often associated with inflammation.
Stress pathways stemming from perturbed endoplasmic reticulum (ER) for exa
mple have been described as possible contributor to inflammatory responses
. Here I will discuss an ER-stress related responses triggered by perturba
tions of the nuclear envelope (NE). In particular I will focus on the mech
anisms linking NE-stress with inflammasome activation.\n
