DESCRIPTION:Aim: The CZI Neurodegeneration Challenge Network has three goa
 ls: (1) to make fundamental advances toward understanding neurodegeneratio
 n\; (2) to bring new ideas and talent to the field of neurodegeneration\; 
 and (3) to encourage a new type of interdisciplinary collaborative researc
 h involving scientists\, clinicians and engineers. The CZI Ben Barres Earl
 y Career Acceleration Awards will fulfill these goals by supporting early 
 career academic investigators\, with an emphasis on those who are new to t
 he field of neurodegeneration. We seek to empower investigators to pursue 
 bold ideas and to take risks within a supportive and collaborative environ
 ment.\n \nDuration: 5 years\n \nFunding: USD $500’000/year ($2.5M tota
 l)\n \nEligibility: Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent\, and must c
 urrently hold their first independent faculty position. This faculty posit
 ion must have commenced between 04/2012 and 04/2016 (exemptions are availa
 ble for family and medical leave).\n \nHow to Apply: Two-step review proc
 ess\, including a written application followed by an in-person interview o
 f finalists. Written applications must include a project proposal\, profes
 sional references\, a Biosketch\, and an institutional approval form.
