DESCRIPTION:Prof. Frank Verstraete\, Ghent University\nI will discuss the
role of entanglement in quantum many body systems and argue that tensor n
etworks yield a natural framework for describing strongly correlated syste
ms. Using the language of tensor networks\, it will be demonstrated that t
opological phase transitions can be understood in terms of the emergence o
f symmetries on the entanglement degrees of freedom\, thereby obtaining a
refined picture of Landau's characterization of phase transitions in terms
  of symmetry breaking.
