DESCRIPTION:Aim: In this new Grand Challenge\, we solicit proposals to exa
 mine the transmission of Campylobacter spp. in communities. Proposals resp
 onsive to this call will generate data to understand the sources of Campyl
 obacter infection in children in LMICs\, and the dynamics of transmission 
 in LMIC communities of interest. Analyses of these data are expected to ad
 dress the question of whether a human vaccine for Campylobacter is a neces
 sary and appropriate strategy in spite of the complexities associated with
  auto-immune responses to Campylobacter antigens. Alternatively\, studies 
 will address whether an avian Campylobacter vaccine\, sanitation and hygie
 ne measures\, or behavioral interventions that promote the segregation of 
 young children from domestic birds and animals—alone or in combination
 —are effective in preventing Campylobacter infections in children.\n \n
 Funding: No set funding ceiling\, but project goals must be attainable in 
 less than two years.\n \nEligibility: Grand Challenges is open to both fo
 reign and domestic organizations\, including non-profit organizations\, fo
 r-profit companies\, international organizations\, government agencies and
  academic institutions.\n \nHow to Apply: Applicants should first submit 
 a letter of interest (LOI) detailing their research idea. The LOI should h
 ighlight the goals\, study design\, investigator capabilities\, and budget
  for the project. The most promising applicants will then be invited to su
 bmit a full proposal.\n \nApplication Deadline: LOI due Wednesday 02 May
