 ct: The end of the first decade of the LHC era is quickly approaching\, 
 and despite the non-appearance of beyond Standard Model physics\, there is
  much to do and much to be excited about. I will introduce the big ideas 
 of experimental high-energy physics and beauty quark flavor physics in pa
 rticular\, and the role they play in pushing back the frontiers of our kno
 wledge. In particular\, I will discuss one intriguing tension which has e
 merged regarding lepton flavor universality in semileptonic b-hadron deca
 ys\, which may indicate something unexpected within or outside of the curr
 ent paradigm. Finally\, I will give a perspective on what lies on the hor
 izon for b-physics and HEP more broadly.
