DESCRIPTION:\nProf. Lyesse Laloui and Dr. Alessandro F. Rotta Loria succes
 sfully organized a short course for practitioners and academics entitled 
 “Energy Geostructures Analysis and Design”.\n\nThe short course took p
 lace in the EPFL campus on 20-22 March 2018. The course accounted for more
  than 20 participants from 8 countries. The lectures also featured the pre
 sence of worldwide renown experts in the field such as Dr. Tony Amis (GI E
 nergy) and Dr. Sebastian Homuth (Zueblin).\n\nThe first day had been dedic
 ated to the energy behaviour of such geostructures\, discussing the theore
 tical aspects governing the thermal exchange processes. Exercise sessions 
 about the energy design of energy geostructures were included.\nThe second
  day encompassed topics related to the thermo-mechanical analysis of energ
 y piles\, walls\, tunnels and anchors. Dedicated exercise sessions were in
 cluded. A visit of the LMS experimental facilities closed the day.\nThe th
 ird and last day featured the presence of worldwide renown experts in the 
 field of energy geostructures which shared their experience about real pro
 ject developments. A final lecture and exercise session related to the per
 formance-based design of energy geostructures in the framework of Eurocode
 s gave a final contribution to this course.\n
