 iscuss how to construct hyperbolic manifolds with simple closed geodesics 
 of large length. The idea we are interested in was used by P. Buser and P.
  Sarnak in dimension 2 and involves number theoretical tools. The talk is 
 intended to explore this idea and how it could be generalized to higher di
 mensions.
