DESCRIPTION:The goal of the Cogito Foundation is to encourage the dialogue
  between science and technology on one hand and humanities and the social 
 sciences\, on the other.\n \nThe Foundation supports research that helps 
 bridge this gap. It does not fund the mere application of a method from on
 e discipline to another: all disciplines involved must gain scientifically
  from the research project. The Foundation does not grant supplementary fu
 nding to SNF\, ERC or similar grants. Does not cover overheads nor infrast
 ructure costs.\n\n1. RESEARCH GRANTS\n\n	Who can apply: renowned researche
 rs.\n	For what: research projects at an academic institution in Switzerlan
 d or abroad.\n	How much: rarely exceeds CHF 100’000 (based on approved p
 rojects\, min. CHF 7’000\, max. CHF 250’000\, average CHF 70’000).\n
 	Duration: up to 3 years (renewable).\n	Eligible costs: Salaries (as per E
 PFL salary scale)\, including social charges\, Equipment\, Materials\, Oth
 er research costs and Publications. Does NOT cover overheads nor infrastru
 cture.\n\n \n2. FELLOWSHIPS\n\n\n	Who can apply: researchers affiliated t
 o an academic institution.\n	For what:\n	\n		Invite guest researchers who 
 have the potential to stimulate a research group OR\n		Postdoctoral fellow
 ships for young scientists\, who recently obtained their PhD\, who want to
  carry out postdoctoral research at a foreign institution.\n	\n	\n	Duratio
 n: at least 6 months.\n	How much: based on approved projects\, min. CHF 5
 ’000\, max. CHF 190’000\, average CHF 70’000.\n\nThe Cogito Foundati
 on also supports events that aim at increasing the understanding of scient
 ific thinking and the scientific method among the public at large. The Fou
 ndation does NOT fund the dissemination of scientific results.\n\n3. CONGR
 ESSES\n\n\n	For what: invite prominent speakers to congresses\, meetings\,
  seminars and the like.\n	How much: based on approved projects\, min. CHF 
 1’000\, max. CHF 100’000\, average CHF 15’000.\n\n\n4. PUBLIC UNDERS
 TANDING OF SCIENCE\n\n\n	For what: Events and activities. Does NOT cover t
 ranslations and printing costs.\n	How much: based on approved projects\, m
 in. CHF 2’000\, max. CHF 250’000\, average CHF 30’000.\n\n \nDEADLI

 on process:\n\n\n	ELIGIBILITY CHECK: the executive committee of the Founda
 tion Council checks if the application is in line with the goals of the Fo
 undation and immediately informs the applicant if this is not the case.\n	
 EVALUATION: proposals passing the eligibility check are submitted to the F
 oundation Council. The Decision is communicated to the applicant within 60
  days.\n
