DESCRIPTION:Prof. Demetri Psaltis\nThe EPFL Photonics Chapter is glad to
  announce and invite you to the Celebration of the International Day
  of Light (IDL) at EPFL.\nFollowing the purposes of the International Yea
 r of Light in 2015\, this initiative was proclaimed by UNESCO to promo
 te the progress and promise of light technologies and research\, and 
 to raise awareness about their importance to humankind.\n\nThe EPFL IDL 
 celebration will take place on May 16th in SV 1717 starting at 5.15 PM
 .\nFor this occasion\, we will have the pleasure of listening to Prof. De
 metri Psaltis (Laboratory of Optics\, EPFL) who will give a lecture entit
 led "Optics at the forefront of technology".\n \nMoreover\, we are glad t
 o open the the EPFL "International Day of Light" Photo Contest\, whose 
 winners will be selected and announced during the apero that will fo
 llow the lecture.\nThe theme we propose is  "Light in science\, art\, an
 d everyday life". The idea is simple: send your photo related to the the
 me of light to photonics.chapter@epfl.ch no later than Sunday\, 13th o
 f May. The photos will be exhibited in the hall during the apero and vo
 ted by the public. The best three photos will be rewarded with FNAC gi
 fts card (100\, 70 and 40 CHF)\, so don’t hesitate to send yours! Fur
