DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Peer Reviewed M
 edical Research Program (PRMRP) for 2018. The vision of the FY18 PRMRP is 
 to improve the health and well-being of all military Service members\, Vet
 erans\, and beneficiaries. The intent of the PRMRP Investigator-Initiated 
 Research Award is intended to support studies that will make an important 
 contribution toward research and/or patient care for a disease or conditio
 n related to at least one of the FY18 PRMRP Topic Areas. The Topic Areas a
 re listed at the end of this announcement.\n\nThe rationale for a research
  idea may be derived from a laboratory discovery\, population-based studie
 s\, a clinician's first-hand knowledge of patients\, or anecdotal data. Ap
 plications must include relevant data that support the rationale for the p
 roposed study. The data may be unpublished or from published literature.\n
  \nThe FY18 PRMRP is offering a Partnering PI Option for this award mecha
 nism. The results of this partnering project should significantly advance 
 the research beyond what would be possible through individual efforts. The
  Partnering PI Option is structured so that two investigators\, each of wh
 om will be designated as a PI\, work synergistically on a single project.\
 n \nFunding:       Maximum USD $1’200’000 (single PI)\n    
                   Maximum USD $1’500’000 (partnering 
 PIs)\n \nEligibility: Applicants from international organizations or inst
 itutions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions
 . Investigators at the level of Assistant Professor or above are eligible 
 to submit applications.\n \nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted

 st of collaborators and key personnel\, a proposal narrative\, and support
