DESCRIPTION:With this initiative\, the Volkswagen Stiftung aims to support
  unique and excellent projects at the interface between the natural and li
 fe sciences that contribute to comprehending fundamental principles of lif
 e. Amongst others\, the Foundation will consider approaches from Synthetic
 \, Systems or Cell Biology\, Xenobiology as well as Biophysics\, Prebiotic
  Chemistry or similar research areas.\n \nRestriction: projects dealing w
 ith basic biomedical research or treatment of diseases as well as the esta
 blishment of biomedical methods are not eligible.\n \nWho can apply: \n\n
 	Researchers in Germany at all stages of their postdoctoral career.\n	Swis
 s-based researchers can be involved as international partners (up to 5) an
 d are eligible for funding.\n\n \nFunding & Duration: up to EUR 1.5 mill
 ion for up to 5 years for direct project costs. Does not cover overheads.\
