DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Lunch Cancer Re
 search Program (LCRP) for 2018. The Idea Development Award promotes new id
 eas that are still in the early stages of development and have the potenti
 al to yield impactful data and new avenues of investigation. This award su
 pports conceptually innovative\, high-risk/high-reward research that could
  lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate p
 rogress toward eradicating deaths and suffering from lung cancer. Applicat
 ions should include a well- formulated\, testable hypothesis based on stro
 ng scientific rationale. Submissions from and partnerships with investigat
 ors at Department of Defense (DoD) military treatment facilities and labor
 atories\, and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers and rese
 arch laboratories are strongly encouraged.\n \nPreliminary data to suppor
 t the feasibility of the research hypotheses and research approaches are r
 equired\; however\, these data do not necessarily need to be derived from 
 studies of lung cancer.\n \nThe LCRP seeks to support research that is re
 levant to the healthcare needs of military Service members\, Veterans\, an
 d their families. Military relevance will be considered in determining rel
 evance to the mission of the FY18 LCRP during programmatic review.\n \nFu
 nding: Maximum USD $ 350’000\n \nDuration: 2 years\n \nEligibility: Ap
 plicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to 
 apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators at the le
 vel of Assistant Professor or above are eligible to submit applications.\n
  \nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platfor
 m. They should contain contact information\, a list of collaborators and k
 ey personnel\, a proposal narrative\, and supporting documents as suggeste
 d on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be made via a Gr
