DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Lunch Cancer Re
 search Program (LCRP) for 2018. The Career Development Award supports earl
 y-career\, independent investigators to conduct impactful research under t
 he mentorship of an experienced lung cancer researcher as an opportunity t
 o obtain the funding\, mentoring\, and experience necessary for productive
 \, independent careers at the forefront of lung cancer research. This awar
 d is intended to support impactful research projects with an emphasis on d
 iscovery. Submissions from and partnerships with investigators at Departme
 nt of Defense (DoD) military treatment facilities and laboratories\, and D
 epartment of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers and research laboratori
 es are strongly encouraged.\n \nPreliminary data are not required. Howeve
 r\, logical reasoning and a sound scientific rationale for the proposed re
 search must be demonstrated.\n \nThe LCRP seeks to support research that 
 is relevant to the healthcare needs of military Service members\, Veterans
 \, and their families. Military relevance will be considered in determinin
 g relevance to the mission of the FY18 LCRP during programmatic review.\n
  \nFunding: Maximum USD $ 250’000\n \nDuration: 2 years\n \nEligibili
 ty: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligib
 le to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators at 
 the level of Assistant Professor and within the first five years of their 
 first faculty appointment are eligible to submit applications. A mentor mu
 st also be identified\, who must hold a position of Associate Professor or
  above (not necessarily at the same institution as the PI).\n \nHow to Ap
 ply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They shoul
 d contain contact information\, a list of collaborators and key personnel\
 , a letter of intent\, and supporting documents as suggested on the platfo
