DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Tick-Borne Dise
 ase Research Program (TBDRP) for 2018. The intent of the TBDRP Investigato
 r-Initiated Research Award intends to support highly rigorous\, high-impac
 t studies that have the potential to make important contributions to Lyme 
 disease and other tick-borne diseases research\, patient care\, and/or qua
 lity of life. This award mechanism promotes a wide range of research from 
 basic through translational\, including preclinical studies in animal mode
 ls or human subjects\, as well as correlative studies associated with an e
 xisting clinical trial to establish proof-of-principle for further develop
 ment in future studies.\n \nApplications submitted to the FY18 TBDRP must
  address at least one of the specific Focus Areas in Lyme disease and othe
 r tick-borne diseases with emphasis on reducing public health burden. Thes
 e Focus Areas are listed at the end of this announcement.\n \nFunding: Ma
 ximum USD $ 650’000\n \nDuration: 3 years\n \nEligibility: Applicants 
 from international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply\, a
 nd there are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators at the level of As
 sistant Professor or higher are eligible to submit applications.\n \nHow
