DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Tick-Borne Dise
 ase Research Program (TBDRP) for 2018. The intent of the TBDRP Career Deve
 lopment Award  supports independent\, early-career investigators conducti
 ng impactful research with the mentorship of an experienced tick-borne dis
 eases researcher (i.e.\, the Mentor) as an opportunity to obtain the fundi
 ng\, guidance\, and experience necessary for productive\, independent care
 ers at the forefront of tick-borne diseases research.  This award support
 s impactful research projects with an emphasis on discovery.\n \nPrelimin
 ary data are not required.  However\, logical reasoning and a sound scien
 tific rationale for the proposed research must be demonstrated.\n \nAppli
 cations submitted to the FY18 TBDRP must address at least one of the speci
 fic Focus Areas in Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases with emphasi
 s on reducing public health burden. These Focus Areas are listed at the en
 d of this announcement.\n \nFunding: Maximum USD $ 300’000\n \nDuratio
 n: 3 years\n \nEligibility: Applicants from international organizations o
 r institutions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restri
 ctions. Investigators within 10 years of their terminal degree are eligibl
 e to submit applications. The Mentor must hold a position at or above the
