DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Kidney Cancer R
 esearch Program (KCRP) for 2018. The KCRP Translational Research Partnersh
 ip Award mechanism supports partnerships between clinicians and research s
 cientists that will accelerate the movement of promising ideas in kidney c
 ancer toward clinical applications. The ultimate goal of translational res
 earch is to move a concept or observation forward into clinical applicatio
 n\; However\, there should also be an intellectual synergistic partnership
  between the clinic and the laboratory. Results should be relevant to acti
 ve duty Service members\, Veterans\, other military beneficiaries\, and th
 e American public.\n \nPreliminary data to support the feasibility of the
  research hypothesis and research approaches are required\; however\, thes
 e data do not necessarily need to be derived from studies of kidney cancer
 .\n \nFunding: Maximum USD $ 600’000\n \nDuration: 3 years\n \nEligib
 ility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eli
 gible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators 
 at the level of Assistant Professor or higher are eligible to submit appli
 cations.  One partner in the collaboration must be a research scientist a
 nd the other must be a clinician. Multi-institutional partnerships are enc
 ouraged. At least one member of the partnership must have experience eithe
 r in kidney cancer research or kidney cancer patient care\, but inclusion 
 of experts from outside the kidney cancer field is encouraged.\n \nHow to
