DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Duchenne Muscul
ar Dystrophy Research Program (DMDRP) for 2018. The DMDRP Investigator-Ini
tiated Research Award supports translational research that will accelerate
the movement of promising ideas in Duchenne research into clinical applic
ations. Translational research may be defined as an integration of basic s
cience and clinical observations with the specific goal of developing new
therapies. The ultimate goal of translational research is to move a concep
t or observation forward into clinical application\; however\, the researc
h plan should involve a reciprocal flow of ideas and information between b
asic and clinical science.\n \nThe proposed research must address at leas
t one of the FY18 DMDRP Focus Areas. The Focus Areas are listed at the end
  of this announcement.\n \nFunding: Maximum USD $ 600’000\n \nDuration
 : 3 years\n \nEligibility: Applicants from international organizations or
institutions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restric
tions. Investigators at the level Assistant Professor or higher are eligib
le to submit applications.  \n \nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are subm
itted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information\
, a list of collaborators and key personnel\, preproposal narrative\, and
supporting documents as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by i
nvitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packa
ges can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.\n \nPre-Application De
