DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Orthotics and P
 rosthetics Research Program (OPORP) for 2018. The OPORP Applied Research A
 ward  mechanism is being offered for the first time in FY18 and challenge
 s the scientific community to address which orthotic and prosthetic device
 s\, and which characteristics of those devices\, generate the best patient
  outcomes. The mechanism is intended to support clinical research that eva
 luates orthotic and/or prosthetic devices using patient-centric outcomes r
 elevant to Service members and Veterans with limb loss and/or limb impairm
 ent.\n \nApplications to the FY18 OPORP CRA must address at least one of 
 the Focus Areas\; these are listed at the end of this announcement.\n \nT
 he FY18 OPORP CRA offers funding for two Funding Levels:\n\n	Funding Level
  I: Pilot research that has the potential to make significant advancements
  toward clinical translation. Preliminary data are allowed but not require
 d for this Funding Level.\n	Funding Level II: Research that is supported b
 y preliminary data and has the potential to make significant advancements 
 toward clinical translation.\n\n \nFunding:       Funding level I -
