DESCRIPTION:Alexandre Colin\nLRS Lab Research Seminar\nSeason 2\n\nAlexand
re Colin\, Characterisation of the neutron activation of the EPFL CROCUS r
eactor’s structures\n\nThe Swiss National Cooperative for the Disposal o
f Radioactive Waste (Nagra) is developing an activation calculation sequen
ce for the neutron-activated components that must be handled when a nuclea
r power plant is being decommissioned. To validate the code\, measurements
are performed on elements of the CROCUS reactor. Gamma spectrometry measu
rements are at first carried out on the concrete of the experimental cavit
y\, but the lack of knowledge on the geometric efficiency prevents the pro
per determination of the activity. To calculate the geometry efficiency fo
r different shapes and setups\, a model of the experimental setup is devel
oped on SERPENT. The activity can then be calculated for the concrete of t
he CROCUS cavity as well as the activated elements found in the reactor co
re such as the guide tubes of the cadmium plates.
