DESCRIPTION:This initiative supports collaboration between researchers bas
 ed in high as well as low and middle income countries and addressing the d
 evelopment and reproduction of social inequality\, especially in relation 
 to one of the following aspects:\n\n	Institutions and Networks \n	Resource
  Distribution and Inheritance \n	Technological Change and Digitalization\n
 	Socio-Ecological Processes of Inequality\n\n \n“Global Issues” is th
 e first joint funding initiative of Compagnia di San Paolo (Italy)\, Novo 
 Nordisk Fonden (Denmark)\, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (Sweden)\, and the Vo
 lkswagen Foundation (Germany).\n \nWho can apply:\n\n\n	Consortia of up t
 o 5 applicants\, including\n\n	\n		1 applicant from an institution in a Eu
 ropean high income country (It is recommended that at least one applicant 
 is based in Italy\, Denmark\, Sweden or Germany) and\n		at least 2 applica
 nts from low and middle income countries (the majority of applicants must 
 be located outside of Europe).\n	\n	\n	It is recommended to integrate at l
 east 1 PhD student\, preferably in a low and middle income country.\n	Post
 doctoral researchers are encouraged to act as PIs.\n\n \nDisciplines: soc
 ial sciences\, but interdisciplinary studies are eligible.\n \nFunding & 
 Duration: max. EUR 1.5 million for up to 4 years.\n\n\n	A relatively even 
 distribution of funding amongst the different partners is expected.\n\n \
 nEligible costs:\n\n\n	Personnel\, travel costs\, consumables\, acquisitio
 n of data\, equipment and other research-related costs.\n	Replacements for
  sabbaticals or short-term teaching-buy-outs.\n	The main share of the fund
 s provided for staff must be allocated to junior scholars.\n	Non-personnel
  costs can incl. knowledge dissemination\, public engagement activities an
 d stakeholder involvement.\n	Up to 10\,000 EUR for a preparatory meeting t
 o prepare the pre-proposal.\n\n \nNon eligible costs: \n\n\n	PI’s salar
 y\, except top-up salary for junior researchers.\n\n \nTimeline of the ca
 ll:\n\n\n	Deadline for pre-proposals: 30 October 2018\, midnight CET.\n	Sh
 ortlisted pre-proposals will be invited to submit a full proposal in Febru
 ary/March 2019.\n	Deadline for full proposals: June 2019.\n	Interview: Sep
