DESCRIPTION:David Rudrauf\, Laboratory of Multimodal Modelling of Emotion
& Feeling\, Dept of Psychology\, Swiss Center for Affective Sciences\, Uni
versity of Geneva\, Biotech Geneva\, Switzerland\nThe Projective Conscious
ness Model (PCM) (Rudrauf et al\, 2017) is an\nattempt to unify psychology
  computationally\, with the broadest possible\nexplanatory power about a m
 ultiplicity of phenomena and behaviours\, from\nperception\, imagination\,
appraisal\, emotion\, social cognition\,\nmotivation\, and action. The PC
M advances previous formulations of active\ninference by featuring an expl
icit psychological and cybernetic model of\nthe form\, structure and dynam
ics of conscious experience\, formulated as\na formal Field of Consciousne
ss\, integrating 3D projective geometry and\nthe Free Energy principle (Fr
 iston\, 2010). The model  integrates\ncounterfactual or multi-perspectiva
 l first-person perspectives with\naffective dynamics\, for the global opti
misation of action outcomes. The\nPCM offers an explicit\, formal\, comput
able and integrative basis for\ntesting hypotheses about normal and pathol
ogical psychological\nmechanisms quantitatively. The principles of the mod
el will be\nexplained\, and will be illustrated with applications to: perc
eption\,\nfocusing on visual illusions\; artificial agent simulations of r
esilient\nnavigation in the context of affective stressors based on imagin
ary\nprojections in the future\; social perspective taking in the context
of\nmodeling joint attention and Autism Spectrum Disorders\, using both\na
rtificial agent simulations and initial implementations in collective\nrob
ots\; the modeling of emotion dynamics and the generation of complex\nfaci
al expressions as a function of affective states\; and theory-laden\nneuro
-computational predictions for parametric neuroimaging experiments.\nWe wi
ll discuss perspectives around the model for strong AI and\nautonomous rob
otics\,  as a basis for designing interpretable social\nartificial agents
and more generally as a method for psychological science.\n
