  is used as an edge density diagnostic probe at JET. I will talk about the
  ion gun technology\, the implementation at JET and the analysis method of
  the measured beam emission profiles. The diagnostic suffered in the past 
 from degradation of the plasma facing periscope mirror – this was recent
 ly overcome by the installation of a protection shield inside the vacuum. 
 I will present recent result and comment on fluctuation\, edge MHD\, ion t
 emperature and magnetic field measurements.\n
