  purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the different modelli
 ng techniques available to materials scientists and engineers along with t
 he basics to create such models.\n\nParticipants\nThis summer school is op
 en to materials scientists and engineers\, from both industry and academia
 \, in particular PhD students.\nThis short course can be validated with 1 
 ECTS credit in the Doctoral school programme of EPFL\, after acceptance by
  the corresponding programme. In this case\, full attendance and a final e
 xamination will be requested. PhD students who give oral presentations in 
 the afternoons will be exempted from the examination. students.\n\nStudent
 s' contributions\nPhD students presenting their work in an oral contributi
 on will be dispensed of the examination in order to obtain their ECTS cred
