DESCRIPTION:Aim: The goals of the American Chemical Society Petroleum Rese
 arch Fund are to support fundamental research in the petroleum field\, and
  to develop the next generation of engineers and scientists through suppor
 t of advanced scientific education. The New Directions (ND) Grants Program
  aims to stimulate a new direction of research for established faculty\, a
 nd to support the careers of their student scientists and engineers. The N
 D program provides funds to scientists and engineers with limited—or eve
 n no—preliminary results for a research project they wish to pursue\, an
 d who intend to use the PRF-driven preliminary results to seek continuatio
 n funding from other agencies. ND grants are to be used to illustrate proo
 f of concept/feasibility. Accordingly\, they are to be viewed as seed mone
 y for new research ventures.\n \nFunding:       USD $110\,000*\n  
          \n*Note that at least 60 percent of the total proposal b
 udget must be devoted to support the education and training of students.\n
  \nDuration:      24 months\n \nEligibility: Regularly-appointed fa
 culty members at academic institutions in countries where ACS PRF can admi
 nister grants\, including Switzerland\, are eligible.\n \nHow to Apply: C
