DESCRIPTION:The Swiss-based Fondation Botnar launches a call for research 
 projects that aim at:\n\n	better understanding the determinants\, mechanis
 ms and status of the health and wellbeing of adolescents in rapidly growin
 g secondary cities in low- and middle-income countries.\n	and/or validatin
 g new solutions and services addressing unmet adolescent health or wellbei
 ng needs or challenges at the individual\, community or city system level.
 \n\n \nThe solutions and services must be affordable\, accessible and equ
 itable for the target populations in need and should leverage digital tech
 nologies and exploit AI if appropriate in the context. The foundation part
 icularly encourages social science research projects.\n \nFind below an i
 dea of what is supported:\n\n	Example of topics (including\, but not limit
 ed to): Mental health\, Nutrition\, Education\, Infectious diseases\, Viol
 ence\, Substance abuse\, Injury\, Chronic physical illnesses\, Prevention 
 and/or management of sexual and reproductive health and HIV.\n	Example of 
 countries (including\, but not limited to):  Romania\, Tanzania\, Colombi
 a\, Ecuador\, Ghana\, Senegal\, India\, Morocco\, Egypt\, Indonesia and Vi
 etnam.\n	Example of solutions (including\, but not limited to): improving 
 the prevention\, diagnosis\, treatment\, management or cure of diseases or
  enabling and promoting the wellbeing of adolescents.\n	Does not support: 
 projects in emergency or humanitarian relief\, in crisis and conflict zone
 s\, and in the areas of culture and music. The foundation does not replace
  state funding.\n\n \nWho can apply: researchers and organisations anywhe
 re in the world.\n \nFunding: min. CHF 100’000\nEligible costs: personn
 el\, material costs\, expendable items\, field expenses\, travel or expens
 es of third parties\, equipment\, access to infrastructure\, conferences a
 nd workshops\, national and international cooperation\, networking activit
 ies and 10% overhead.\nDoes not cover: publication costs\, exhibitions and
  infrastructure.\n              \nDeadline for short proposa
 ls: 28 February 2019\, 24:00 CET.\nDeadline for full proposals: 30 April 2
 019\, 24:00 CET (upon invitation).\nEvaluation of short proposals: by the 
 foundation’s management team and Expert Commission.\nSelection of full p
 roposals: by the foundation’s board.\nDecision: within 6 months from the
