  electron microscope to be given away. And imagine an group of people arou
 nd you who react with: "That sounds like an awesome opportunity\, let's ge
 t it." This is what had happened in the beginning of this year. As a conse
 quences we now have an older\, 300kg heavy scientific instrument and we ar
 e trying to get it working again.\n\nThis talk will take you on the journe
 y we lived so far\, trying to get the microscope working again. We will st
 art of with all the logistic that was necessary to get the instrument\, ha
 ve a small introduction into how a scanning electron microscope works and 
 what it is useful for\, look at all the steps we have taken so far to repa
 ir the instrument and of course have a look out into the future.\n\nThis p
 roject is very nice opportunity to learn and discover new things. The fiel
 ds touched by this project are quite broad: electronics\, physics\, vacuum
  technology and even a bit chemistry and biology.
