DESCRIPTION:Carlos Ribeiro\, Behavior and Metabolism Lab\, Champalimaud Re
 search\, Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown\, Lisbon\, Portugal\nNutritio
nal decisions are key determinants of health\, wellbeing and aging. We wan
t to understand how animals decide what to eat and how these decisions aff
ect the fitness of the animal. To achieve a mechanistic\, integrated\, who
le-animal understanding of nutritional decision-making we work at the inte
rface of behavior\, metabolism\, microbiome\, and physiology in the adult
Drosophila melanogaster. I will discuss how the powerful combination of
  neurogenetics\, automated\, quantitative behavioral analyses\, nutritiona
l and microbial manipulations\, and imaging approaches is allowing us to a
chieve a mechanistic understanding of how neuronal circuits control nutrit
ional decisions to regulate important traits such as aging and reproductio
