DESCRIPTION:The digital transformation is creating scientific and technolo
 gical opportunities\, such as the MetaMedia Center’s initiative to prese
 rve the Montreux Jazz Festival archives. The MetaMedia Center as well as t
 he Montreux Jazz Café will be offering interactive tours of the archives 
 and explanations of the technology behind the project. The tours will be a
 vailable from 10am to 5pm.\n \nAlain Dufaux\, head of the MetaMedia Cente
 r\, will describe the cross-disciplinary work being carried out at the cen
 ter to digitize and preserve the Jazz Festival’s audiovisual collection.
  Over 11\,000 hours of videos\, 6\,000 hours of audio and more than 180\,0
 00 photos have been digitized since 2010\, and they have become valuable r
 esearch material for scientists at several EPFL labs.\n\nRegistration requ
 ired here\n\nThe guided tours are free of charge.
