  Scott Brownrigg leading the practice’s global Advanced Technologies gro
 up. Previously European director of a FTSE 500 practice he has extensive e
 xperience of planning\, designing and delivering complex and innovative pr
 ojects characterised by the transformative impact new technologies and typ
 ologies have in shaping architecture\, culture and cities. \nIn the near 
 future portions of the city will be operated and populated exclusively by 
 robotics. The architect Iain Macdonald in this lecture gives an introducti
 on to these Automated Spaces\, some of which already exist. Drawing from 
 his experience in designing data centers and urban logistics centers\, Mac
 donald provides a vision of the architectural and urban consequences of th
 e automation revolution. How will these spaces function? To what extent sh
 ould they be transparent to\, and understandable by their human neighbors?
