DESCRIPTION:Eckardt Bihler\, Dyconex AG \, CH.\nSince more than 50 years i
mplants with electronic functions are used for various therapies. Design p
rinciples of current and future bio-electronic devices are discussed with
respect to the requirements for stability of the functionality and the int
erfaces to neural tissue. Properties of bio-compatible materials used for
bio-electronic devices are discussed with specific focus on liquid crystal
polymers (LCP).  \n\nBio:\nDr. Eckardt Bihler graduated with a PhD in so
lid state physics from the University of Stuttgart in 1990. In his more th
an 25 years career in the microelectronics industry he collected considera
ble experience in ceramic and organic packaging\, semiconductor design and
printed circuit board processing technologies. Since five years he works
for Dyconex AG\, a speciality flex PCB shop in Switzerland\, as a business
development manager. His special interests are with LCP and its use for a
ny kind of miniaturized medical electronic devices. He is the inventor of
more than 10 patents in the field of bio-electronic devices.\n\n
