DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The goal of this RFP is to measurably reduce plastic po
 llution before it reaches the ocean. NGS seeks solutions that actively sto
 p or reduce the stream of pollution into waterways\, including by effectin
 g behavior change in key stakeholders. Preference will be given to applica
 nts who are residents or citizens of the country where the work will be co
 nducted and to projects with higher potential for scaling and impact.\n \
 nPriority will be given to projects that use technology to do one or more 
 of the following:\n\n	Develop innovative solutions to reduce the flow of p
 lastic into waterways\n	Create and implement innovative strategies that en
 gage stakeholders to dramatically reduce plastic use and/or input into wat
 ersheds\n	Focus on filling key gaps in geography (e.g.\, Africa) or knowle
 dge that would enable reducing the flow of plastic from their sources into
  the ocean\, or focus on known hot spots that contribute most to the marin
 e plastic pollution problem\n\n \nFunding:       $100\,000\n \nElig
 ibility: Applications from around the world are accepted. If you are plan
 ning to work outside of your home country or community\, you must include 
 the name and contact information for at least one local collaborator as a 
 project team member in the application. The individual responsible for car
 rying out the project should apply and write the application. Students sho
 uld not submit in their advisor’s name. As a result of changes in Chines
 e law effective January 1\, 2017\, the National Geographic Society is unab
