DESCRIPTION:Founded in 1910\, the Swiss Cancer League (SCL) is a national 
 organization\, headquartered in Bern\, whose aim is to ensure that fewer p
 eople develop cancer and more people can be treated successfully. The orga
 nization supports cancer research\, increases public awareness of preventi
 on measures and is committed to early diagnosis and treatment. To this end
 \, the organisation offers various funding instruments: research grants\, 
 scientific conferences grants and a bursary programme.\n \nThe intention 
 of the bursary programme is to secure high level research in clinical onco
 logy in Switzerland by offering young investigators the possibility to vis
 it a leading research centre outside of Switzerland in order to acquire an
 d return with advanced training and further education.\n \nOnly projects 
 with immediate cancer relevance are funded. The expected results of the pr
 oposed project should contribute important new observations or knowledge o
 n the causes\, prevention or treatment of cancer. Basic research projects 
 are NOT eligible. SCL only supports industry-independent projects.\n \nWh
 o can apply: bursaries must be employed by a Swiss research institution\, 
 be implicated in medical oncology\, hold a PhD for no more than 2 years at
  the time of the submission.\n \nFunding: follows SNSF fellowship rates.\
 nEligible costs: Salary and travel costs + up to CHF 3’000 for open acce
 ss publication (Green or Gold Road).\nDuration: up to 24 months. No minimu
 m duration (provided the proposed project can be achieved within the propo
 sed time period).  \n \nDeadlines: 31 January and 31 July (every year)\n
 Evaluation by two members of SCL Scientific Committee. Final decision by t
 he SCL Board and by the Board of the Swiss Cancer Research foundation.\nDe
 cision: end of June or end of December respectively.\n \nApplication: fil

 rom the future employer in Switzerland to the Grant Application Portal.\n
