DESCRIPTION:Aim: The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Init
 iative (SFARI) is to improve the understanding\, diagnosis and treatment o
 f autism spectrum disorders (ASD) by funding innovative research of the hi
 ghest quality and relevance.\n \nThe Research Award seeks to attract comp
 etitive proposals from investigators with demonstrated expertise. The awar
 d will support compelling\, high-impact research on experimental hypothese
 s for which\, in most cases\, preliminary data have already been gathered.
  The foundation will also consider projects focusing on a central hypothes
 is where success depends on close collaboration between two or more labs.\
 n \nDuration: 48 months\n \nFunding: $1\,300\,000\n \nEligibility: All 
 applicants and key collaborators must hold a PhD\, MD\, or equivalent degr
 ee and have a faculty position or the equivalent.  There are no citizensh
