DESCRIPTION:The Swiss National Science Foundation has announced the third 
 edition of its competition for images and short videos from the world of s
 cience. The best entries will be showcased in various exhibitions\, includ
 ing the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography\, Musée de l'Elysée in Lausa
 nne\, the Zurich Film Festival as well as in Martigny\, Paris and San Fran
 cisco.\n \nThe SNSF Scientific Image Competition gives the public an unco
 nventional view of research. It invites all researchers to document the of
 ten unusual environment they work in\, as well as any special tools and in
 struments\, and to capture unexpected occurrences on film or make a photo 
 of the research team at work.\n \nPrize: a CHF 1’000 prize will be awar
 ded to the winners in each of the following categories:\n\n	Object of stud
 y\n	Locations and instruments of research\n	Men and women of science\n	Sho
 rt videos (max. 15 seconds) \n\nIn addition\, the jury will award distinct
 ions worth CHF 250 each.\n \nWho can apply: scientists working at higher 
 education institutions or research institutions in Switzerland.\n \nRestr
 ictions: \n\n\n	Works by professional photographers are not accepted.\n	Th
 e submitted image or video must have been produced after 1 February 2018.\
