DESCRIPTION:Bayer’s Global Ophthalmology Awards Program (GOAP) helps cli
 nical investigators and basic researchers from around the world:\n\n	Make 
 significant contributions to research in ophthalmology\n	Complete further 
 investigations/experiments\n	Contribute to tangible benefits for patients 
 with retinal disorders\n	Improve patient access to high-quality eye care\n
 	Increase disease understanding and dissemination of scientific knowledge 
 through publications\n\nEach year\, a specific research focus is assigned.
  Research Focus for 2019: Biomarkers and phenotyping for retinal disease p
 rogression.\n \nFunding & Duration: max. USD 50’000 for 12 months\n \n
 Eligibility criteria per type of grant:\n\n\n	GOAP Fellowship Award: for a
 pplicants who have completed ophthalmology training and wish to work on a 
 research project as part of their training to become a retinal specialist.
 \n	GOAP Research Award: for applicants holding an MD and/or PhD\, affiliat
 ed with a facility that carries out research in ophthalmology\; having qua
 lified as ophthalmology specialists or having received their PhD within th
 e past 10 years or currently training to become ophthalmology specialists.
