DESCRIPTION:EFSD and Sanofi have established a new programme called the EF
SD/Sanofi European Pilot Research Grants for Innovative Measurement of Dia
betes Outcomes to encourage new projects aimed at advancing current knowle
dge in this field.\n \nHbA1c might not be the only “metric” of releva
nce to assess the possibility for a treatment strategy to provide long ter
m benefit and improved quality of life to patients with diabetes. The lif
 e-long duration of the disease\, the economic\, social\, psychological\,
and physiological burden and limited appreciation of individual needs
are likely important interfering factors.\n \nThese EFSD/Sanofi European
Pilot Research Grants are intended to help develop innovative means to doc
ument and validate novel parameters indicative of long-term benefits for p
atients with diabetes.\n \nProposals may include\, but need not be limite
d to\, the validation of behavioural\, biological\, and disease management
metrics to complement HbA1c in defining the quality of the long term mana
gement of diabetes.\n \nWho can apply:\n\n	The principal investigator and
any co-investigators must be employed full-time at a non-profit instituti
on in the EU or Associated Countries and the study must be performed at th
eir place of work.  \n	Applicants to all EFSD programmes must be paid-up
members of EASD.\n	Only one EFSD award per PI or Co-PI at a time.\n	There
can be more than one EFSD award per lab\, but for separate projects.\n\n
  \nFunding & Duration:\n\n\n	Max. EUR 100’000 for 12 months or longer.\
n	The budget must be prepared in EUR and it must mention the exchange rate
.\n	Please mention all funding requested and obtained from other sources.\
 n	Eligible costs: personnel\, 10% OH\, equipment\, supplies\, other projec
 t-related costs.\n\n \nDeadline: 15 March 2019 at 18:00 (CET)\nDecision:
 June/July 2019.\n \nFor further information\, please have a look at the c
all webpage (incl. evaluation criteria)\, general instructions\, online ap
plication portal (incl. the online application form) and past grantees.\n
