 SA\nThe research I conduct involves modeling the environmental and social 
 Interactions of the urban environment\, primarily in the U.S. Southwest. F
 or example\, a recent paper modeled and projected the factors that influen
 ce residential Water consumption in the Phoenix Arizona metropolitan area.
  Finding show that neighborhood similarities with respect to landscaping s
 tyle\, presence of pools\, lot size\, and household size influence overall
  water use. Policies and incentives could engage residents and developers 
 to reduce water use Through low water use landscaping styles and community
  rather than private pools. The objective in this and other related resear
 ch is to quantify environmental responses (e.g.\, urban heat\, vegetation 
 growth) to varying human activities (e.g.\, water demand\, energy usage). 
 At the regional and urban level\, model results can provide insight into p
 olicies that could mitigate the urban Heat island effect\, reduce overall 
 residential water consumption\, and improve Energy efficiency.
