Abstract:\nHematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPC) are essential fo
r mature blood cell production\, host immunity and osteoclast mediated bon
e turnover. When do stem cells give rise to all mature blood cells while m
aintaining their pool and how these opposite tasks are synchronized is poo
rly understood. Recent studies revealed that daily onset of light and dark
ness differentially control HSPC migration and differentiation while maint
aining their bone marrow (BM) reservoir by inducing circadian bursts of BM
norepinephrine (NE)\, TNF and melatonin. Bone forming stromal precursors
are also regulated by daylight and darkness onset. The metabolic cross tal
k between blood and bone forming stem cells which protects hematopoietic s
tem cells from chemotherapy insult and the potential role of stress induce
d mitochondria transfer will be presented.  These topics and their clinic
al potential will be discussed.\n\nBio:\nEducation:\n1990-1994:   Post-D
