DESCRIPTION:Prof. Dr. Sabrina SATORI\nDepartment of Technology Systems\nUn
iversity of Oslo\, Norway\nMetal hydrides are considered a viable option f
or both vehicular and stationary hydrogen-based\nstorage technologies.\nA
large number of compounds has been identified and characterized at differe
nt levels of detail.\nIt is clear that the choice of the material is close
ly depended on the needs of the specific\napplication for the storage syst
ems\, which comprises the tank\, the H2-carrier and the heat\ntransfer med
ium. In the frame of the “Hydrogen Storage Systems for Mobile and Statio
nary\nApplications” Group in the International Energy Agency (IEA) Hydro
 gen Task 32 “Hydrogenbased\nenergy storage”\, a recent survey [1] give
s an overview of the use of hydrides both in\nmature and innovative system
 s. Key parameters such as gravimetric and volumetric density of\nthe hydro
gen carrier\, heat management and tank design are shown to be crucial in a
ffecting the\nuse of hydrides in different applications.\nReferences:\n[1]
