DESCRIPTION:Alberto Castellazzi\, Associate Professor in power electronic
 s with the University of Nottingham\, Nottingham\, U.K.\nAbstract: \nSili
con carbide (SiC) power MOSFETs are potential enablers of disruptive progr
ess in solid-state electrical power conversion. The technology has mature
d significantly over the past few years\, now enabling meaningful deployme
nt in application.  This talk will review expectations and reality and d
iscuss bespoke power converter optimisation and still open robustness and
reliability issues.  Devices in voltage classes ranging from 650 V up to
 3.3 kV will be considered.
