DESCRIPTION:Trust is indispensable to the prosperity and well-being of soc
ieties. For millennia\, we developed trust-building mechanisms to facilita
te interactions. But as they become increasingly digital\, many traditiona
l mechanisms no longer function well\, hence trust breaks down. As a resul
t\, low levels of trust discourage us from engaging in new forms of intera
ctions and constrain business opportunities. We must therefore re-invent t
rust mechanisms that will contribute to prosperous and peaceful societies
 in the digital age.\n    \nAt this year's IC Research Day\, world-lead
ing experts will present and discuss their work toward achieving these goa
ls. EPFL researchers will showcase ongoing research projects and engage wi
