DESCRIPTION:The Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) and the SNSF\, wi
 th the support of private foundations and in collaboration with the Swiss 
 School of Public Health\, award each year a limited number of competitive 
 MD-PhD scholarships.\n \nMD-PhD scholarships enable young physicians to c
 omplete a doctoral research training in natural sciences\, public health s
 ciences\, clinical research or biomedical ethics at a Swiss university.\n
  \nApplicants should aim at becoming experts in translational medicine an
 d at contributing to evidence-based medicine.\n  \nDuration: 24-36 month
 s within a time window of four years starting from the date of matriculati
 on as MD-PhD or PhD student (5 years in justified cases).\nEarliest start:
  1 September 2020.\n \nWho can apply:\n\n	Completed studies in human\, ve
 terinary or dental medicine at a Swiss University by the time the scholars
 hip starts: medical degree obtained up to 3 years before the call deadline
 .\n	Admitted as doctoral students in the MD-PhD program of the Medical Fac
 ulty of a Swiss university by the time the scholarship starts and for the 
 duration of the scholarships.\n	Dedicate at least 80% of their doctoral ti
 me to research.\n	Residents of Switzerland for at least 24 months by the c
 all deadline.\n\n \nEligible costs: salary of the grantee (CHF 55’044 p
 er year) + 16% social charges.\nOwn contributions: the host institution gu
 arantees funding to complete the doctorate after the expiration of the sch
 olarship.\n \nDeadline: 15 December (every year)\nApplications must be su
 bmitted to the Local MD-PhD Commissions where you intend to be matriculate
 d as doctoral student. These will pre-select applications to be recommende
