DESCRIPTION:Hongkui Zeng\, PhD\nBlue Brain is delighted to announce a semi
nar series in Neural Computation beginning in April 2019.\n\nWe welcome as
our first speaker\, Hongkui Zeng\, PhD\, who is the Executive Director of
Structured Science in the Allen Institute for Brain Science. Hongkui will
present ‘Cell type classification and circuit mapping in the mouse brai
n.’\n\nSince joining the Allen Institute in 2006\, Hongkui has led sever
al research programs\, including the Transgenic Technology program\, the H
uman Cortex Gene Survey project\, the Allen Mouse Brain Connectivity Atlas
project\, and the Mouse Cell Types and Connectivity program. She is curre
ntly leading the Structured Science Division to develop and operate high-t
hroughput pipelines to generate large-scale\, open-access datasets and too
ls to accelerate neuroscience discovery.\n\nHongkui’s current research i
nterests are in understanding neuronal diversity and connectivity in the m
ouse visual cortical circuit and how different neuronal types work togethe
r to process and transform visual information. She has broad scientific ex
perience and a keen interest in using a combined molecular\, anatomical an
d physiological approach to unravel mechanisms of brain circuitry and pote
ntial means for treating brain diseases.\n\nThe seminar is open to all at
the Blue Brain offices in the Campus Biotech\, Geneva. Upon arrival at the
Campus Biotech\, please sign in at the Campus Biotech reception.
